The Museum of Second Chances
Evelyn Silver runs the Museum of Maritime Curiosities, believing that every forgotten or lost object is special in some way. At the heart of the museum lies her most precious possession: a fragment of Cornish lace that holds the key to her own past. As her museum comes under threat, its collections surrender stories that show how the lives of those around her are intertwined in ways nobody expected.
The Last Time I Saw You
Georgie is expecting her first baby… but before she can become a mother, she has to find her own. She and her brother haven’t seen their mother Nancy in 20 years, so when a viral news story alerts them that she’s living on a remote Scottish island they set off on a road trip. As they travel into their family’s past, they discover that Nancy’s story is every bit as heartbreaking as their own.
Tell Me How This Ends
Haunted by the past, Henrietta throws herself into a new job transcribing other people’s life stories, vowing to stick to the facts and avoid emotions. But when she meets the eccentric Annie, she finds herself inextricably drawn into her story. When Annie reveals that her sister drowned in unexplained circumstances in 1974, Henrietta can’t help following the story’s loose ends.
Victorian Modern
I wrote this book for Thames & Hudson, working with the interiors photographer Rachael Smith. Having always lived in Victorian houses (from tiny flats to a semi and now a terrace), I wanted to tell the story of how Victorian architecture evolved – and then show how modern owners can update each room to create a home that feels fresh, contemporary and works for how we live now. It features inspiring homes from leading designers and is brimming with inspiration.
Fiction in translation
My novels are published in Germany by Droemer Knaur, as Café Leben (Tell Me How This Ends) and In Den Augen Meiner Mutter (The Last Time I Saw You). The Museum of Second Chances should be out in German in 2027.
